Indira Ghandi International Airport, located in Palam 15 km from New Delhi, is the main airport of the capital of India as well as major hub for all air travel to and from India, being the busiest one in the country. Originally built during World War II to serve RAF, it later become an Indian Air Force airport before becoming a civilian airport in 1962.
Named after former Prime Minister of India Indira Ghandi, the airport has three near-parallel runways, the longest of which is almost four and a half kilometers long. There are three terminals: T1 is for low cost domestic flights, T2 also operates domestic flights with the addition of Hajj flights for three months a year, while T3 serves international and full service domestic flights.

Terminal 3 is of particular interest to us – opened in 2010, it is a modern building full of facilities and various attractions. According to Wikipedia, this terminal has 168 check-in counters, 78 aerobridges at 48 contact stands, 54 parking bays, 95 immigration counters, 15 X-ray screening areas, shorter waiting times, duty-free shops, and other features.
The airport plans to expand further, with building an additional runway and a new terminal scheduled to be completed by 2030. If you are interested in travel and holidays in Asia and India in particular, please visit the Lasti24 website – we are developing and aim to satisfy every question!
